RUET teachers postpone strike

RU Correspondent: Teachers of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) postponed their programme on Saturday noon.

The varsity teachers went on work abstention demanding punishment of the students who had confined them during their protest.

Teachers’ Somity General Secretary Professor Abdul Alim confirmed the matter to media.

Abdul Alim said that the teachers took the decision in a meeting to end the ongoing situation.

On February 5, the agitating students staged a sit-in in front of the vice-chancellor’s office and confined the VC, Professor Mohd Rafiqul Alam Beg, and about 25 teachers for around 24 hours, demanding withdrawal of mandatory 33-creidt hour per year, for their promotion.

In face students’ demonstration, the authorities withdrew the mandatory 33-credit hour system for student’s promotion.
