'Rain Tree rape was pre-planned'

Staff Correspondent: The incident of rape at "Rain Tree" hotel in the capital's Banani was pre-planned, according to Safat and Sakif in remand.

They rented two rooms with the mediation of Mahin Harun, friend of Safat, from pre-planned.

Safat Ahmed and Sadman Sakif who were arrested in this regard confessed this to police in the first day of remand.

Earlier, Women Support and Investigation Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) took them in remand in line with the directives of the court on Saturday.

A source engaged in investigation into the matter, claiming anonymity, said Safat along with his friends planned before to rape the girls. They selected Safat's birthday for committing the offence. Besides, they rented two rooms in the hotel through Safat's friend Mahin who is son of the owner of the hotel so that nobody could doubt.

"They committed same incidents ago several times. However, they managed to hide them through threatening the victims. They also threatened these two girls for not discovering the matter," the source said.

However, Safat and Sakib denied the allegation of filming the rape incident in Rain Tree, the source added.
