Rain disrupts home journey of Eid holidaymakers

Staff Correspondent: Heavy rain in the capital on Sunday morning caused sufferings to thousands of people heading home to celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr.

Several key areas of the capital went under ankle-deep water due to the continuous heavy rainfall, which started as a shower in the early hours today.

Riad Hassan, a dweller of Dhanmandi said, “I was in tension noticing heavy rain fall around 7:30am as I was scheduled to go Gabtali bus to catch my home bound bus.”

Bus passengers from Dhaka had to suffer first to reach terminals, then to cross the city's exit points and finally on the highways.

Huge number of passengers were seen at Gabtali bus station. The concerned authority said that the Eid journey is being hassle free this time as there is no traffic jam on highways. The buses from Dhaka are leaving in time.
