Rajshahi-Tungipara train service launches

Staff Correspondent, Rajshahi: ‘Tungipara Express’ has launched its journey on Rajshahi-Gopalganj route.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina opened the train service on the route under the West Zone of Bangladesh Railway through video conference on Thursday morning.
Later, ‘The Tungipara Express’ left Gobra railway station of Gopalganj at 6:45am on Friday which reached Rajshahi railway station at 1:30pm.
The train started its return journey to Gopalganj at 3:30pm.
Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton inaugurated Friday’s journey of The Tungipara Express. He then distributed flowers and sweets among common people.
Liton said, “Rajshahi-Tungipara rail communication is a milestone of the railways. It is an example of balanced development of the current government.”
Mujibur Rahman, general manager of the West Zone of Bangladesh Railway, said that the rail communication between Rajshahi and Gopalganj will work as a bridge among people of both areas.
The Tungipara Express has eight coaches while will run on Rajshahi-Ishwardi-Gobra route five days in a week.
The train service will remain shut on Monday and Tuesday of the week. The train will take just six hours to run 256 kilometers on the route which will expand the facilities of passenger movement and goods transportation.
