Rape case accused killed in Cox's Bazar gunfight

Cox's Bazar Correspondent: An accused of a rape case was killed in a gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Napitkhali area of Badarkhali union under Chakaria Sadar upazila in Cox's Bazar on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Anwar Hossain alias Anu Mia, 59, son of late Ershad Ali.

RAB-7 camp commander Major Ruhul Amin said that the accused Anwar Hossain raped a student of class four on February 11, leaving her critically injured. Later, victim's father filed a case with Chakaria police station.

On information, a team of RAB conducted drive in the area this morning. Sensing the presence of RAB, terrorists opened fire aiming the law enforcers. In reply, RAB also opened fire which triggered the gunfight. Later, RAB found the bullet his body in the area.

A local made gun, three rounds of bullets were seized from the spot.
