Rape in Car: Rony sent to jail

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court on Friday sent the Mahmudul Haque alias Rony, 32, to jail on charge of raping a girl inside his private car in the city.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Debabrata Biswas passed the order when Sub-Inspector Minhaz Uddin of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station produced him before the court after ending three days remand.

Earlier on June 9, the court granted three days remand in the rape charge.

Two girls stopped Rony's car near College Gate area and requested Mahmudul Haque to drop them off at a nearby place. Some moments later, Rony dropped a girl off near Shishu Mela area and raped the other girl in the car. At one stage, sensing the incident, jaywalkers stopped the car and gave Rony and his driver a mass beating.

Later, a video of the mob beating Rony and the driver went viral on Facebook.
