Rape of DU student: 4 students go on hunger strike

Four students of Dhaka University have gone on an indefinite hunger strike for a four-point demand including arrest and punishment to the accused in the DU student rape case.

Sifatul Islam Sifat, a student of the philosophy department, went on an indefinite hunger strike from Monday morning at the foot of Raju Memorial Sculpture. Later, three more students joined it. They are Abdur Rahman, Saiful Islam Russel and Mostafizur Rahman Nafis.

A second-year student of Dhaka University was allegedly raped and tortured in the capital’s Kurmitola area on Sunday night.

Her fellow students and several DU employees brought her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around midnight and got her admitted there.
