Rasraj released from jail

Brahmanbaria Correspondent: Rasraj, 30, a Brahmanbaria fisherman who was sent to jail over allegedly hurting religious sentiment, has been freed from jail.

He was released from the district jail around 12:30pm on Tuesday, nearly two and half a month after he was sent to jail in a case filed against him under Information and Computer Technology Act by police.

Earlier, Judge of Brahmanbaria District and Sessions Judge's Court Md Ismail Hossain granted interim bail to him, on Monday.

On October 30, around 200 religious bigots attacked at least five temples, and vandalised and looted about 100 Hindu houses in several localities in Nasirnagar. The attackers also beat up more than 100 people.

Rasraj, a fisherman by profession and with background of little education, was detained after a Facebook post posted from a profile bearing his name triggered the attack.

He is son of Jagannath Das of Harinberh village of the district's Nasirnagar upazila.
