Road crash kills 6 in Satkhira

Satkhira Correspondent: At least six people were killed and 10 others were injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a prick up at Bhairabnagar of the district’s Tala upazila on Tuesday night.

The deceased were known as Ashiquzzaman, 12, son of Moniruzzaman of Kalikapur village of Kaliganj upazila, his sister Mim, 3, Aklima Khatun, 50, Nur Banu, 50, Saidul Islam, 45, and Sabbir Hossain, 15.

The injured could not be identified immediately.

Witnesses said Moniruzzaman went Khulna with his family members to attend one of his relatives’ Namaz-e-Janaz. The pick up collided with an opposite head truck at Bhairabnagar area of Patkhelghata while it was returning from Khulna, leaving the six dead on the spot and 10 injured.

Mollah Zakir Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patkhelghata Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said, bodies were sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital for autopsy. The injured were sent admitted to the hospital. Of them, several were in critical condition.
