Roadmap for next general polls: Dialogue from July

Staff Correspondent: The Election Commission (EC) has finalized the draft of roadmap for the next general elections.

The EC will start holding dialogue with all political parties from July to arrange the next general election.

Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda made the disclosure while announcing a roadmap for the next general polls at his Election Commission Secretariat in the capital on Tuesday evening.

He said that ahead of next general polls, the Election Commission is moving forward with a roadmap include updated list of voters, guidelines for consultation with stakeholders, registration of political parties, level playing field and others. 

He said, “We will hold the dialogue with all stakeholders including political parties, election observers, media, civil society members and election officials by the timeframe to hold the next general election in a free and fair manner,”

The dialogue will be continued until November this year, he added.

Earlier, the EC sat on a meeting to finalize the work plan to take preparations for the next general election.

Election Commissioner Rafiqul Islam, Kabita Khanam, Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury, EC additional secretary Mokhlesur Rahman and others attended the press briefing.
