SA win ODI series against Bangladesh

Sports Correspondent: South Africa (SA) have won the three-match ODI series with remaining a match left as Proteas thrashed Bangladesh in the second ODI by 104 runs at Paarl's Boland Park on Wednesday.


South Africa also beat Bangladesh in the first ODI by 10 wickets in Kimberly on Sunday.

On Wednesday, Bangladesh captain won the toss and opted to bowl first.

South Africa, thanks to AB de Villiers' 176 runs, scored 353 runs in allotted 50 overs.

In chase, Bangladesh managed to score 249 runs losing all wickets in 50 overs.

Opener Imrul Kayes hit 68 runs off 77 balls with 6 fours and a six while wicketkeeper captain Mushfiqur Rahim bagged 60 runs with same number of four and six.

All-rounder Mahmudullah scored 35 runs and opener Tamim Iqbal hit 23 runs. Other batsmen could not hit any run to be mentioned.

Earlier, South Africa's AB de Villiers hit a brilliant century in the match. He bagged 176 runs off 104 balls which includes 15 fours and 7 sixes.

Hashim Amla scored 85 runs off 95 balls with 4 fours.

Quinton de Kock (wk) hit 46 runs while Jean-Paul Duminy scored 30. Farhaan Behardien (unbeaten) bagged 7 runs off 9 balls.

Bangladesh pacers Rubel Hossain took four wickets for 62 runs while all-rounder Shakib Al-Hasan bagged 2 wickets off 60 runs.
