SC stays bail to Apan Jewellers' owners

Staff Correspondent: The Supreme Court (SC) has stayed the bail to three of five Apan Jewellers' owners granted by the High Court (HC) till December 21.

Justice Md Imman Ali, chamber judge of the SC, passed the order on Monday noon.

Deputy Attorney General Motahar Hossain Saju represented the state while lawyer Munshi Mohammad Moniruzzaman stood for the accused in the court.

Earlier on December 14, the bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Shahidul Karim granted bail to Dildar Ahmed, Gulzar Ahmed and Azad Ahmed in three money laundering cases, after hearing their petitions.

Later, the state filed a petition seeking stay of the HC order.

On November 22, HC issued a rule asking the authority concern as to why three Apan Jewellers' owners should not be granted bail.
