SC wants to know how much money GP can pay

The Supreme Court has wanted to know how much money Grameenphone (GP) can pay to Bangladesh Telecom Regulatory Commission (BTRC) from its Tk 12,580 crore.

The apex court has asked the lawyers of GP to inform about it to this court by October 31.

A seven-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order on Thursday.

Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and Advocate AM Aminuddin stood for Grameenphone while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and Barrister Khandaker Reza-E-Raquib stood for BTRC.

On October 17, the High Court issued a two-month injunction on the BTRC’s move to realise money from Grameenphone.  Later, BTRC filed a petition seeking a stay on the High Court order that issued an injunction on its move.
