SUST covers country's first modern network

SUST Correspondent: Shahjalal University of Science and Technology has become the first university in the country to have the latest version of Internet-based IP addresses 'IPv6'.

The IT manager of the university ASM Khairul Akhter Chowdhury said this while addressing a press conference at the university's Computer and Information Center on Tuesday evening.

He said, `By joining this system, LinkedIn, Google, Twitter and various well-known technology companies that use IPv6 systems, anyone can use those sites at a much faster pace. University teachers and students can easily do whatever research is required for IPv6.’

Among others were present at the meeting, acting director of ICT. Md. Shahidur Rahman, Bangladesh Computer Council's Data Center Operations Manager Abdul Awal, IP Manager of Royal Green Limited and Core Operations Nazrul Islam.

IT manager Khairul also said, ‘A specific address is required to receive and transmit information from one place to another on the Internet. And this particular address is the IP address. Its full name is "Internet Protocol Address". Currently 2 IP addresses are used. They are IPv4 and the latest system IPv6 and SUST is the first of the universities in Bangladesh to come under this system.’
