Entertainment Desk: Prominent drama and film director Saidul Anam Tutul has passed away while undergoing treatment in Labaid hospital in the capital on Tuesday (Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi Rajiun).

He was 68.

The film director breathed his last around 3:00pm.

Directors’ Guild Secretary General SA Haque Olike confirmed the matter to risingbd.com.

Tutul was hospitalized after he had suffered a cardiac arrest around 2:00am on Monday (Dec 16).

He left two daughters who are US immigrants. His elder daughter whose name is Oishee Anam returned home yesterday and younger daughter Amrita Anam will return home tomorrow.

His burial will be held tomorrow (Wednesday), Olike said quoting his family members.

Tutul started his career as an editor. He was a director and actor at the same time. He made his directorial debut through the 2003 film Adhiyar financed by the government.

His latest ‘Kalbela’ was also funded by the government in 2017-18 fiscal year.

He won National Film Award in Best Editor category for 1979 film ‘Surja Dighal Bari’.

He also worked in some other films— Ghuddi (1980), Dahan (1986), Dipu Number Two (1996) and Dukhai (1997).
