Salman, Aishwarya had almost agreed to do Padmavati

Entertainment Desk: Everyone remembers the magic Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan created in the movie, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Fans were so madly in love with the actors’ chemistry that they have, since then, always wanted to see them act together in a movie.

However, due to their ugly and much publicised fall out, fans never got to see them in a movie again. However, did you know that even filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted to star the two actors for his upcoming film, Padmavati?

Yes, you read just right. In his recent weekly column in Open Magazine, film journalist Rajeev Masand revealed according to sources the ace filmmaker had reached out to the two actors a few years ago, to check if they would consider making the movie together. Aishwarya, apparently, agreed to do the film with Salman, only on one condition–that Salman plays the role of Alauddin Khilji (being played by Ranveer Singh now) as there are no scenes of Khilji and Rani Padmavati together in the movie.

However, it was Salman who refused the offer. Masand quoted a source close to the actor, in his column, as saying that Salman was happy to make the film but on the condition that it is a love story. It seems he was interested to recreate the magic of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and wasn’t going to settle for a movie, that didn’t have him share screen space with her.

Padmavati, now stars Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji, Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati and Shahid Kapoor as Raja Rawal Ratan Singh. The movie is set to release on November 17 this year.
