Sand-soil instead of paper imported

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: Chattogram Customs on Saturday seized a container in which sand and soil were found instead of white offset paper imported from China.
The 20 feet-long container was imported by Progress Impex Ltd of Dhaka’s Banani.
Nur Uddin Milon, deputy commissioner of Chattogram Customs, confirmed the news.
He said, “The container reached Chattogram port on August 26. C&F Agent Saaj Trade International of Chattogram Sheikh Mujib Road in the port city was set to unload it. As per the declaration form, the container was supposed to have white offset paper imported from China. But Customs, on tipped off, came to know that materials out of declaration was imported in the container. Later, sand and soil were found in it.”
Customs took initiatives of examining the sand and soil and legal steps against the importer, according to Customs sources.
