Search Committee to meet again on Feb 6

Staff Correspondent: The search committee will sit for another meeting on 6 February to finalise the names it will propose to the president for picking as election commissioners.

Additional cabinet secretary Abdul Wadud made the disclosure while addressing reporters after a meeting of the search panel at Supreme Court Judges' Lounge on Thursday evening.

He said, “A shortlist will be finalised from the 20 names list. The committee is collecting more information about the persons."

They will meet again at the same venue at 6pm on February 6 to further assess before finalising the names, he added.

Earlier, the Election Commission search committee talked with 12 other representatives of the civil society.

On 26 January the president formed the search committee to find election commissioners and asked it to propose 10 names by 8 February.
