Septuagenarian beaten to death in Barisal 

Staff Correspondent, Barisal: A septuagenarian man was beaten to death by rival group over land dispute at Dakshin Kazirchar village of the district's Muladi upazila on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Amzad Hossain, 68.

Police held five people for their suspected involvement in the murder.

Sayed Ahmed Talukder, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Muladi Police Station, confirmed the news.

He said Amzad had a dispute over land with Wazed Hawlader of the same village. People of Wazed opposed Amzad when he went the land to pulverize its soil.   At one stage, they attacked on Amzad, leaving him critically injured.

Relatives took him to Muladi Upazila Health Complex immediately where attending doctors declared him dead, he added.
