Sexual harassment: Turag bus driver among 3 remanded

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court has placed three staffers including driver of a Turag Paribahan bus in a case filed over sexually harassing a private university female student in the running bus on her way to campus.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Golam Nabi passed the order after hearing in the case on Tuesday.
The accused placed on remand are bus driver Roman, 27, conductor Monir, 27, and helper Nayan, 29.
Earlier, Gulshan police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Tapos Kumar Ojha, Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, produced the accused and sought a seven-day remand for each.
The accused were arrested from Sayedabad and seized the bus on Monday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the victim gave statement to the court over the incident under the section 22.
According to the case statement, on April 21, the girl boarded the bus on Badda Link Road to go to the university. When all the other passengers got off at Natun Bazar stoppage, the helper, conductor and driver started to sexually assault the girl. At one stage, she managed to fend them off and jump off the bus.
On April 22, the victim's husband filed a case with Gulshan Police Station under the Women & Children Repression Prevention Act.
