Shakib represents a different Bangladesh in international arena

He has emerged as a symbol of good luck for England cricket, also earned the title 'Alabatross'. Because, he bagged most test (13) win records among English cricketers.

But the career did not last long as he became irregular due to injuries and ups and downs in performance. Though the early performance created a great possibility to become an all-rounder, but he could not go forward with the dream.

He gave his country big success within a short time. He had the achievement of winning Ashes at home and away. He also gave his country the taste of winning title in international tournament. After all, he made a colourful journey with the national team jersey.

It is none, but Tim Bresnan of England, who joined the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for the first time. On Tuesday, he gave an interview to Risingbd Sports Correspondent Yeasin Hassan at Academy ground in the capital's Mirpur.

Here is the important discussion he made during the interview.

Risingbd: Your first time in BPL, What makes you to play in the tournament?

Tim Bresnan: I just think an opportunity to come and play in a different tournament like I play with few others. And I just love this one. You know I like Bangladesh, people are so friendly here. The crowd supports the team and the screaming-shout and noise from the crowd are very entertaining.

Risingbd: Are you enjoying the time here?

Tim Bresnan: yah yah, exactly...It’s a great place. The practice facilities are outstanding, lots of opportunity to work with my own game on a turning wicket as well. I am enjoying full moments here. It’s a great opportunity.

Risingbd: What about Syhlet Sixers?

Tim Bresnan: Syhlet Sixeres… good setup boys. Good setup facilities. You know they are doing very well. The management and franchise are gentle. Nice people are surrounding.

Risingbd: On an interview in Gurdian you praise Bangladesh as well. Do you remember that?

Tim Bresnan: I don’t remember that but I know Bangladesh is very well. It’s a lovely place. It’s so warm and everybody here is always smiling. It’s a great place to come and play cricket.

(According to The Guardian, he said, “Bangladesh is very interesting, to be fair. I've been there twice as well. I don't mind it. It's a different kettle of fish, with the underdevelopment and stuff, but the people are fantastic, so friendly, they can't really do enough for you.’’)

Risingbd: You played 2011 world cup for England. You played the match against Bangladesh? can you remember Bangladesh's performance?

Tim Bresnan: Yes we lost the game. Bangladesh played very well. You know we hit a decent score, but dew came down in the evening and it was difficult to hold the ball for the bowlers. We didn’t bowl well as we like to do. Bangladesh played a good run chase and knocked up.

Risingbd: History repeats in 2015 world cup also….

Tim Bresnan: That was really superb. I remember Mahmudullah who hit a brilliant century. The right arm bowler (Rubel) got some serious spell. It was a good game.

Risingbd: Since, Bangladesh played so well in one day cricket, beating India, Pakistan and South Africa at home and win test against England and Australia…

Tim Bresnan: Look, the team emerges so well. They were always good. But when the momentum came, they get their results. It’s good. Senior players took responsibilities. Good young goons are coming.

Risingbd: Any Particular player you want to give credit?

Tim Bresnan: Look, it's a team game but there will be always a different guy in the team. Probably, the guy is Shakib. He has changed the thought and mindset about Bangladesh cricket in the international level. He is such a good all-rounder in world cricket.

Risingbd: You won world T-20 for England in 2010. Is that the biggest success?  It is England’s only global tournament title in five decades...

Tim Bresnan: Probably…The Ashes in Australia winning that was first time in 28 years and something that was bigger. But these are two special moments for me in my cricketing life.

Risingbd: England will host the 2019 world cup; do the nation have a chance of winning the title?

Tim Bresnan: Yes definitely, a world cup in English condition obviously suits for England. You see the way we played in the Champions Trophy. At the moment we played good one day cricket. Following the tournament, Eoin Morgan and his boys are doing well. It’s good to watch.

Risingbd: You always dream of playing another world cup. Is the dream still on?

Tim Bresnan: Ah ha! I would love to play another world cup. I played already three world cup. Some younger players gave inspirations. But I can’t see much game for England now.

Risingbd: You only played 23 tests; in your first 13 test you tasted victory. Is it remarkable?

Tim Bresnan: of course it’s remarkable. Not many people can do that. I can remember Adam Gilcrist holds the record of 14. The team played with full of really strong players. We played as team. I also got chance of turning up and winning….

Risingbd: How do you describe The Ashes?

Tim Bresnan: The Ashes is something like nothing else!  The Ashes is the biggest competitions between England and Australia like India vs Pakistan. It’s the glory of world cricket. Everyone in the world watch the Ashes. It’s that type of competitions which people want to see and the players dream to play it.

Risingbd: How does Ashes impact your cricketing carrier?

Tim Bresnan: As English or Aussie cricketers you always have a dream of playing for the nation. The first think came in mind for the both cricketers; it is just for the Ashes. For them the Ashes is life, pride and dream. I am lucky to participate in it and win it. Yah...it changes my carrier, my atmosphere and everything. Again The Ashes is a glory.

Risingbd: You won Ashes home and away. Is it the best achievement of your cricket carrier? Who will win the Ashes this year?

Tim Bresnan: It’s tough to say about the matter. England is a good side as well as Australia. Who will win, it doesn’t matter, the cricket lovers will find the glory there. They will enjoy every moment of the Ashes.

Risingbd: You are 32, will you be able to play International Cricket ?

Tim Bresnan: Probably yes…I said so. It’s a pleasure and respect to play for England.

Risingbd:  How do you evaluate the BPL?

Tim Bresnan: It’s a good tournament. I think from last year to this year, the overseas players have improved as well. It is always going to be tough competition. Many English players are playing. It’s good. I would like to come again.

Risingbd: Is it good for Bangladesh cricket?

Tim Bresnan: I think so…yes it brings overseas talent here. Bangladesh players are playing alongside with the best cricketers in the world in T-20 level. It will improve them as well. It helps them to improve their game.
