Risingbd Desk: While the nation celebrates the 48th Victory Day, it has another reason to celebrate – awarding the youth who knows best about the country.

As the last question of the quiz Bangladesh Jiggasha, asked by its anchor Khaled Muhiuddin, was answered, the score of Shamim hailing from Narsingdi stood at 105, while Mohsin from Pirojpur scored 100, Benzir from Jhenaidah 90 and Pritish from Barishal 60.

As the victory bell rang, Shamim’s parents ran to the stage. They couldn’t hold back tears of joy.

Thus ended the final round of the quiz competition Bangladesh Jiggasha aired live on Victory Day, December 16, at 10:00pm on Independent Television.

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal handed over the check worth one crore to the winner. Beximco Group Vice-Chairman and Independent TV Chairman Salman F Rahman, IFIC Bank Managing Director and CEO Shah A Sarwar and Independent TV CEO and Editor-in-Chief M Shamsur Rahman also graced the event.

While awarding the Tk one-crore check, Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal touched his forehead with Shamim’s in a congratulatory gesture. The FDC Shooting Floor was reverberating with applauses at this time.

“This event to share knowledge of the country and her achievements is highly appreciated. I would request the organizers to continue this journey in the years to come,” said Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.

“We made sure that youths from all across the country participate in the event. It is proved as none of the four finalists hails from Dhaka. Congratulations to all finalists! Also, congratulations to the winners of previous 40 episodes,” said Salman F Rahman.

“I pride myself in being a part of this initiative. My heartfelt thanks go to Independent TV for organizing such a knowledge-based event to share knowledge of the country,” said IFIC Bank Managing Director and CEO Shah A Sarwar.

“We want this journey to keep going in future. Though it is a huge task, we want to organize it every year. We are really fortunate to get IFIC Bank beside us. We hope that more organizations will come forward in the days to come,” said Independent TV CEO and Editor-in-Chief M Shamsur Rahman.

With a beaming face, Shamim said, “This one-crore Taka will help me fulfill my dream.”

Mohsin, the first runner-up who was awarded Tk 25 lacs, would work for ensuring qualitative development of street children and women.

Benzir Ahmed, the second runner-up, would dedicate himself to expanding libraries.

Third Runner-up Pritish Chandra Biswas was awarded Tk 5 lacs.

The quiz is about the achievement and failure of Bangladesh since its independence. The final contestants reached the final round after contesting with 80,000 competitors from all over the country.

Previously, in the first phase of the contest, only 64 were selected among the 80,000 participants through a written exam held in divisional cities.

The quiz show is patronized by IFIC Bank.
