Staff Correspondent: Students and job seekers, who are demonstrating demanding quota reformation, have given Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina the title of “Mother of Education.”
Joint convener of Bangladesh General Students’ Rights Protection Forum Nurul Haq Noor announced this at a press conference held in front of Razu sculpture adjacent to the TSC on Thursday.
They brought out a procession and marched different roads of the campus.
They urged the government to publish its decision as gazette and suspended their demonstrations until a gazette is published abolishing quota.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday evening announced that there will be no quota system in government jobs from now during the question-answer session in Parliament facing the strong protests by jobseekers and university students across the country against the quota system.
PM said, “If there is a quota then the question of reformation will come. If it is reformed now, another group will take to the streets to reform it again in future. The problem is the quota system. So, there is no necessary for quota. The quota system is excluded and that is my clear statement.”
