Shooting on police: Three more arrested

Staff Correspondent, Chittagong: Police have arrested three more youths for their alleged involvement in the incident of opening fire on a policeman at a check post in Sholashahor gate no-2 area in the city, raising the toll to 6.
They were arrested conducting special drives at Anowara upazila and Rahman Nagar area of the city on Sunday morning.
The arrestees were known as Ayman Jihad, Mahi and Mohammad Khokon.
Abdul Waris, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP-North), confirmed the news.
He said, "Of the arrestees, Khokon opened fire on the policeman directly, leaving assistant sub-inspector Abdul Malek injured in his leg.
Police said one Abdul Hakim was arrested from the scene on Friday night. Based on his information, two SSC examinees were arrested from Muradpur area of the city on Sunday morning.
According to police, five juveniles aged between 18 to19 opened fire on an assistant sub-inspector Abdul Malek while the cop barred them crossing the check post.
Leaving their motorcycle on the spot, the accused fled the scene soon after the shooting on the cop, police claimed.
The ASI sustained bullet on his leg and was undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
