Siddiqur sent to Chennai for treatment

Staff Correspondent: Titumir college student Siddiqur Rahman whose eyes were damaged during clash with police has been sent to Chennai in India for better treatment.
Professor Dr Golam Mostafa, director of National Institute of Ophthalmology, said the flight carrying Siddiqur left Dhaka at 1:00pm. He will be checked up there at 8:55am on Friday.
Siddiqur's classmate Farid said Dr Zahidul Ahsan Menon of National Institute of Ophthalmology and his younger brother Nawab Ali accompanied by him.
Parikshit Chowdhury, public relations officer of the Health Ministry, said Siddiqur will be given treatment at Shankar Netraloy of Chennai under the management of the ministry.
Siddiqur's eyes were damaged after a policeman, as seen in a video footage, shot a teargas canister directly at the agitating college students at Shahbagh on July 20. Siddiqur collapsed on the street instantly.
