Simakhali bridge opens

Magura Correspondent: Simakhali Bridge in the Magura-Jessore Highway at Shalika upazila in the district has been opened for use on Thursday afternoon.

The bridge was opened for vehicular movement around 3:30pm.

Chief Engineer of Roads and Highways Department (RHD) Md Ruhul Amin, ASP Konok Kanti Das, Executive Officer of Shalika upazila Sumi Mojumdar were present during the inauguration of the bridge.

The bridge, located on the bank of Chitra River, collapsed on February 13 when overloaded truck was plying in it, causing huge sufferings to the passengers.

Vehicular movement in the highway came to a halt due to the collapse of the bridge.

Later, the RHD took an initiative to construct the collapsed bridge.
