Staff Correspondent: Attorney General (AG) Mahbubey Alam on Tuesday said former Chief Justice (CJ) Surendra Kumar Sinha has tarnished the image of judiciary through his autobiography.
The chief law officer of the state made the comment while replying to a question of newsmen at his office this afternoon.
“He has tarnished the image of country’s judiciary through his book that he has written sitting abroad. If the reason behind, why the colleague judges of then chief justice declined to sit on the same bench with him comes into light, it will spread further stink. The image of the judiciary will further tarnish,” the AG said.
“The main thing is that he (Justice Sinha) himself tarnished the image of the judiciary. It is much unexpected to utter bitter words or bad things about your colleague judges, by doing these, he has tarnished the image of the judiciary,” he added.
While replying a question on why then colleague judges of Justice Sinha declined to sit with him on the same bench, Mahbubey Alam said, “Whatever we learned, we learned from the newspapers. We haven’t talked with any judges. The other judges had declined to sit with him, which, I think, was unprecedented in the world.”
“If Sinha’s book involves present judges, they can take action against him. But I decline to comment on the issue without reading the book in details,” he added.
