Snatcher killed in Ctg ‘gunfight’

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: A suspected snatcher was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police in the port city on Sunday night.

The gunfight took place around 11.30pm in Pologround area under Kotwali Thana.

The deceased was identified as Monsur, 40.

Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Thana Mohammad Mohsin said a team of police conducted a drive in the area to arrest Monsur. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, snatchers opened fire on law enforcers, forcing them to back fire that triggered a gunfight.

Two police men were injured in the gunfight.

There were eight cases against Monsur in different police stations.
