Babu Sona murder case: Wife Dipa to walk gallows

Staff Correspondent, Rangpur: A Rangpur court sentenced Snigdha Sarker alias Dipa to death on charge of killing her husband Advocate Rathis Chandra Bhowmik Babu Sona.

District Senior Sessions Judge Court Judge ABM Nizamul Huq of Rangpur passed the order on Tuesday noon.  

The convicted Dipa was present at the courtroom during the verdict.

According to the case statement, Rathis Chandra Bhowmik alias Sona Babu, 55, Public Prosecutor (PP) of the Special Court of Rangpur, was killed over an extramarital affair of his wife, police said earlier. He was found dead in an under-construction building in Tajhat Mollapara area of Rangpur, on April 4, 2018.

Expressing satisfaction, Public prosecutor Abdul Malek told reporters, “We are happy with the verdict. Now we want to see quick implementation of the court order.”
