Speeding truck kills 5 in Mirsarai

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: At least five people were killed and two others injured as a speeding truck rammed into a crowd at an auto-rickshaw stand in Thakurdighi area of Mirsarai upazila on Tuesday morning.
The accident took place around 6.45am. Among the deceased two were brothers.
The deceased were identified as CNG auto-rickshaw driver Md Shah Alam (40), Didarul Alam (35), Kamrul (45), Mosharrof (26) and auto-rickshaw passenger Mohiuddin (60).
Shamsul Alam, station officer at Kumira unit of Fire Service and Civil Defence, said a goods-laden truck rammed into a crowd the auto-rickshaw stand, leaving four dead on the spot.
Among the injured, one died on the way to hospital, he added.
Meanwhile, locals caught the truck driver and handed him over to police.
