'Spreading rumors' over nat’l polls: Eight sent to jail

Staff Correspondent: A court has sent eight people to jail on charges of spreading rumors through social media over national election.

Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Abu Sufian Mohammad Noman passed the order on Monday after hearing.

The accused are: Abdullah Al Noman, Morshedul Islam, Mahmudul Hasan, Saiful Islam Mithu, Abdul Kader, Didarul Islam, Ariful Rahman and Motahar Hossain.

Earlier, Sub-inspector Md Faruk Khan, Investigation Officer (IO) of the case produced them before the court and sought seven days remand. 

On December 28, acting on secret information, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested them from a residence at Moghbazar.
