Stop hydraulic horns within 48 hours: HC

Staff Correspondent: The High Court has directed the authority concerned to stop use of hydraulic horns in city transports within 48 hours.

The HC bench comprising justice Kazi Reza-ul Haque and justice Mohammad Ullah passed the order on Wednesday.

Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Manzill Murshid placed arguments on the writ petition. Earlier, on Tuesday, he filed the writ petition.

According to the Motor Vehicles Ordinance 1983, any vehicle that generates more than 85 decibel sound after starting the engine will not get the clearance certificate while it is totally forbidden to install hydraulic horn in the transports. But maximum number of bus and trucks has been using hydraulic horns threatening public health.
