A large number of Yaba tablets enter into the country through Cox's Bazar's Myanmar-Bangladesh border every day. The drug pills are destroying the young generation and future of the country.

Rohingya refugees of Myanmar have been allowed into Bangladesh for humanitarian reasons. But, these Rohingyas are also getting involved with criminal activities including Yaba smuggling. As a result, lots of problems are being created in our country. Our youths are getting involved with many crimes becoming drug addicted.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently issued a strong warning against trading of contraband "Yaba tablets". On Saturday (May 6), the premier inaugurated some development projects in Cox's Bazar. Later, she addressed a public rally organised by Cox’s Bazar district Awami League at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium. Sheikh Hasina said Cox’s Bazar earned the bad name as Yaba are supplied to the whole country from this area. “This Yaba business has to be rooted out.” Meanwhile, she urged all, including parents, guardians, teachers and imams, to take a strong stance against the social menaces like terrorism, militancy and drugs.

Basically, lots of family lost their everything due to the Yaba drugs. Now it is high time to take harder action against the Yaba drug peddlers to save our young generation. Side by side, the parents should be alerted about their children. The guardians must follow their children's activities.

A huge number of Yaba pills enter into the country from the border. The border guards, police and detectives seize lots of Yaba tables daily. Even the law enforcers are alert in borders but, the Yaba supply is still underway. The main reason behind the Yaba drugs is - local influential persons involved with the drug business. Earlier, local public representative was punished on charge of Yaba peddling but the heinous business is going on. If the local people came forward with positive attitude then the Yaba drugs and spreading can be prevented. The prime minister's speech in Cox's Bazar reflected the same thoughts.

More strict action is needed to save our youths from Yaba drugs. The concerned authority should take harder action to prevent spreading of Yaba and other drugs. The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed the authority to take steps Yaba traders in Cox's Bazar. So, action should be taken quickly against the drug peddlers including even influential persons.
