Students block key city roads again

Staff Correspondent: Agitated and aggrieved students have taken to the streets for the third consecutive day on Tuesday to protest the deaths of their two fellows.

Students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin School and College started protesting blocking the road in front of Radisson Hotel in the city on Tuesday morning.

Students from Govt Science College at Tejgaon blocked the road near Farmgate police box halting traffic. Law enforcers, however, cleared the road within half an hour. 

During the protest, students demanded punishment of the driver responsible for Sunday’s accident that killed two college students in the city and resignation of the Shipping Minister for his comments.

On Sunday, a bus operated by Jabale Noor ploughed into a group of college students waiting for transport on the Airport Road, killing two on the spot and injuring several others.

Angered by the incident, students went on a rampage vandalising whatever buses they found before them, and they carried on the agitations for the whole day on Monday.
