Surgery on 'Tree man' syndrome girl Feb 7

Staff Correspondent: A 10-year-girl in Bangladesh known as the "tree girl" will be treated to remove the extensive, wood-like warts that covered her face.
Dr Samanta Lal Sen, Plastic Surgeon and the Director of the Plastic Surgery and Burn Unit, Dhaka Medical College Hospital said that authority will perform the surgery on Tuesday.
He said a medical board has been formed to perform surgery. The surgery will be taken place on Tuesday noon (February 7) after some medical tests.
Sahana's father Shahjahan told risingbd.com that the girl first developed the disease eight years ago, when her father found some rashes on her face. Only since last year have the tree-like warts begun sprouting on her face.
The family did not care about the disease at primary stage. Local doctors failed to detect the disease. Later, a journalist helped the family to come here in Dhaka for treatment.
