Suspected drug trader killed in Kushtia gunfight

Kushtia Correspondent: A suspected drug peddler was killed in a gunfight with police in Sheikh Rasel bridge area of the district town early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Shahar Ali, 38, son of Monoyara Box, hailed from Mojompur area of the Kushtia town.

Kushtia Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nasir Uddin said acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted drive in the area. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, drug traders opened fire. In reply, police also opened fire which triggered the gunfight. At one stage, police found a bullet hit drug trader in the spot and sent him to Kushtia general hospital.

Later, the duty doctors in the hospital declared him dead.

Police said that Shahar Ali was a top drug dealers and he was wanted in 12 drug cases.
