Staff Correspondent, Sylhet: Sylhet Agricultural University has been announced shut for indefinite period in fear of infighting between two rivals of ruling party’s student front Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in the campus over establishing supremacy.
The university authority took the decision in an urgent meeting on Thursday noon, according to the registrar Badrul Islam Shoyeb.
“Male students were asked to leave the university halls before 6:00pm on Thursday while female students before 9:00am on Friday,” he said.
There has been a dispute between two rival groups of BCL over forming committee. As a sequel to that, both groups are making showdowns in the campus after declaring ‘unwanted’ one another which had created tension there.
So, the university authority declared the campus shut to avoid any unwanted incident there.
