Sylhet’s rail link restored after 21 hours

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet: Rail communications of Sylhet with other parts of the country resumed around 7.00pm on Monday, 21 hours after the suspension following the derailment of a train at Baramchal in Kulaura upazila.
Railway divisional engineer (East) Aasan Jabid confirmed the matter.
Six coaches of Dhaka-bound ‘Upaban Express’ from Sylhet veered off the tracks Sunday night near Baramchal Railway Station due to the breakdown of a culvert, killing four passengers and injuring over 200 others.
The accident also snapped rail communications on Sylhet-Dhaka and Sylhet-Chattogram routes.
