Taposh-Atiqul get AL nomination!

Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and incumbent DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam are going to contest as mayoral candidates of ruling Awami League in the elections to the two city corporations of Dhaka, sources said.

Wishing anonymity, reliable sources said, these two candidates are scheduled to get the nominations.

AL general secretary Obaidul Quader will formally announce the names of mayoral and councilor candidates around 11:00am on Sunday at Awami League president’s political office.

The decision was taken during a meeting of Awami League’s local government nomination board with the party’s president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair on Saturday night.  

After the meeting Obaidul Quader said, “We have discussed about the possible candidates. The leader herself is taking information using her source.”
