‘Technocrat ministers not to stay in polls-time govt’

Senior Correspondent: Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed on Tuesday said the four technocrat ministers will not remain in the election- time government.

The minister said this while talking to reporters after a meeting with Norwegian Ambassador HH Sidsel Bleken at his secretariat office in the city.

“The resignation letters of the four technocrat ministers have been submitted. The prime minister certainly will accept their letters any time. The matter is under process,” Tofail said.

Hours after the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked the technocrat ministers to step down on November 6, Expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment minister Nurul Islam BSc, religious affairs minister principal Matior Rahman, science and technology minister Yafesh Osman and posts, telecommunications and information technology minister Mustafa Jabbar rendered their resignation letters to the prime minister through the cabinet division.
