Fire at textile mill at Shyampur

Staff Correspondent: A fire broke out at a textile factory in the capital's Shyampur area early Monday.

On information, eight units of fire fighters rushed to the spot and doused the fire around 9.00am with an effort of four hours.

Inspector Mahmudul Haque of Fire Service and Civil Defence said that the fire originated on the second floor of the six-storey Lucky Textile Mill in the early hours, leaving 30 to 40 people stuck inside the factory.

The people were rescued safely, he said.

The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.
