This year too, girls outshine boys in HSC results

Staff Correspondent: Female students have done better than the male candidates in this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations.

This year’s average pass rate of 10 education boards is 66.64 per cent. The girl’s pass rate of all education boards is 69.72 percent while the pass rate of boys is 63.88 percent.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid handed over a copy of results of this year’s HSC and its equivalent examinations to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official Ganabhaban residence in the capital around 10:00am on Thursday.

The Education Minister will formally announce the results later at a press conference at his ministry.

This year, a total of 13,11,457 examinees from 8,864 educational institutions appeared in the examinations. Of them, 5,47,989 are females and 6, 35,697 males.

A total of 11, 83,686 examinees appeared in the HSC and equivalent examinations last year.

Last year too, girls beat the boys with their pass rate about 2.28 percentage points higher than their counterparts.
