Three Rohingyas killed in ‘gunfight’ with BGB

Three suspected Rohingya drug traders were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) in Tulatoli area under Ukhia upazila in Cox’s Bazar early Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Nur Alam, 45, son of late Julu Molluk at Konarpara refugee camp, Md Hamid, son of Md Gora Mia at Balukhali refugee camp, and Nazir Hossain, 25, son of Md Syed Hossain at Kutupalong refugee camp.
BGB-34 Battalion Commander Lt. Col Mohammad Abu Haydar Azad Ahmed confirmed the matter.
He said on information, a team of BGB men conducted a drive in the area. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the drug traders opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gunfight that left the trio bullet injury.
They were taken to Ukhia Upazila Health Complex where duty doctors declared them dead.
BGB also recovered 3,00,000 Yaba tablets, two pipe guns and five bullets from the spot, he said.
Two BGB men were injured in the gunfight.
