Titu Das to be released if he is innocent: Home Minister

Secretariat Correspondent: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that Titu Das, who has been arrested in the incident of Thakurpara in Rangpur, will be released if he is proved innocent.

The home minister said this to the reporters after a meeting on law and order and other relevant issues on the occasion of the Great Victory Day-2017. The meeting was held in the home ministry conference room on Thursday noon.

The home minister said, “Titu Das has been arrested. A quotation has been raised over a quotation from his phone. If he is not involved in this incident, he will be released. We're checking his phone”.

He said, “If any evidence of this incident is found then action will be taken against him, justice will be done. Several pictures and video footages have been collected and we are identifying the culprits and arresting them”.

The minister said, “Some people have already been arrested. We cannot do mass arrest. But the culprits are being identified and arrested”.

Secretary Farid Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah and high officials of the law enforcing agencies were present at the meeting.
