Trial of Shipping Department’s ex-chief engineer begins

Staff Correspondent:  Former Department of Shipping Chief Engineer Dr SM Nazmul Haque has been indicated in a graft case.

Judge of Special Judge Court-6 Dr Sheikh Golam Mambub passed an order to frame charge sheet against SM Nazmul Haque on Tuesday.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested Nazmul Haque while taking bribe at a hotel in Dhaka's Segunbagicha area.

Nazmul demanded Tk15 lakh from a shipping company in exchange for a no objection certificate and approval for the design of its vessel.

A case was filed against Nazmul with Ramna Model police station after his arrest.
