Truck-leguna collision kills 2 in Tongi

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: At least two people were killed and eight others injured as a truck collided with a Leguna (human hauler) on Tongi-Kaliganj Road in Silmun area of Gazipur on Thursday morning.  

The deceased were known as Subhash Chandra Das, 45, son of Ram Chandra Das and Leguna helper Emdadul Haque Badal, 30.

Sohrab Hossain, sub-inspector of Tongi east police station said, some fish traders were heading towards Kaliganj riding a human hauler around 6:30am. Meanwhile, stones laden a truck collided with the Leguna in the area from opposite direction, leaving Subhas Chandra Das dead on the spot and injured others.

Later, the injured were sent to local hospital where duty doctor declared the helper dead.
