Trump again attacks media at Florida rally

Donald Trump

Risingbd Desk: US President Donald Trump has launched another fierce attack on the media at a "campaign rally for America" event in the state of Florida on Saturday.

After four weeks at the White House, Donald Trump was back in familiar territory.

The Melbourne Police department estimated 9,000 people attended the event held in Melbourne.

As per the formula, he started off by attacking the media, which he said had become "part of the problem" and "part of the corrupt system".

He told the crowd the media did not want "to report the truth" and had their own agenda.

"Despite all their lies, misrepresentations, and false stories, they could not defeat us in the primaries, and they could not defeat us in the general election, and we will continue to expose them for what they are and most importantly we will continue to win, win, win!" Trump said to the excited crowd.

"We are not going to let the fake news tell us what to do, how to live, or what to believe," the president promised. "We are free and independent people and we will make our own choices. We are here today to speak the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I hear your voices, I hear your demands, and I promise I will deliver. I promise you."

Trump said he will continue to call out the media and not let the media "get away" with lies.

"Many of our greatest presidents fought with the media and called them out, oftentimes on their lies. When the media lies to people, I will never ever let them get away with it. I will do whatever I can that they don't get away with it. They have their own agenda, and their agenda is not your agenda," the president said.

"They have become a big part of the problem. They are part of the corrupt system," Trump said.

He also defended the achievements of his presidency so far, insisting that a spirit of optimism was sweeping the US.

Trump said he came to Florida and held a rally because he wanted to be "among my friends and among the people."

Mr Trump had attacked the media at a press conference on Thursday, as pressure mounted on his presidency.

His national security adviser Michael Flynn quit earlier in the week. Mr Trump is to interview candidates for the role on Sunday.
