Two accused remanded over Nazim’s death

Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed two accused on one-day remand each in a case filed over the death of a Dhaka Tribune official in a tragic road accident on Mayor Hanif Flyover in Jatrabari area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Pranab Kumar Hui passed the order after the hearing in the case.

The accused who have been remanded are Md Kamal, 32, helper Manjil Private Limited and Md Wahidul, 35, driver of Shraban Super Paribahan.

On May 20, the investigation officer of the case Md Iqbal Hossain, also sub-inspector of Jatrabari Police Station, produced the two accused before the court and sought a 7-day remand for each.

The court on the same day fixed Tuesday (May 22) for the hearing on the remand petition in the case.

Earlier on May 17, Nazim Uddin, 32, senior executive of the Dhaka Tribune’s advertisement department, was killed as a bus hit his motorcycle while it was trying to overtake another bus and ran over him, on the Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover in Jatrabari.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors pronounced him dead.

Police arrested the bus driver and the helper immediately after the incident.

Victim’s brother-in-law filed the case with Jatrabari Police Station in this regard.
