Two drug peddlers killed in Satkhira gunfight

Satkhira Correspondent: Two drug traders were killed in a gunfight with policemen in Banshdaha village under Sadar upazila of the district early Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Delwar Hossain, 38, son of Abdul Gani and Abul Kalam Azad, 40, son of Abul Kashem.

Satkhira Sadar thana officer-in-charge (OC) Maruf Ahmed said detectives detained drug traders Delwar and Abdul Kalam on Saturday with some cannabis and phensedyl from the area. Meanwhile, the detainees informed police that a big amount of drug is coming from India. Later, the law enforcers went to Kayarbil area to recover drugs.

Sensing the presence of police, the cohorts of drug traders opened fire aiming police which triggered the gunfight, leaving the two injured.

Meanwhile, five policemen were also received bullet injury. They are - Sub-Inspector Riadul, Assistant Sub-Inspector Sumon, ASI Majedul and two constables Rubayet and Tuhin.

A one-shooter gun, one round of bullet and some drugs were seized from the spot.
