 Two ‘drug traders’ killed in separate ‘gunfights’ in Cumilla

Cumilla Correspondent: Two ‘drug traders’ were killed in separate two ‘gunfights’ with members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in the district early Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Rubel and Selim. Two were injured in the gunfights.

One gunfight took place around 1.30am in Natapara area of Chouddagram upazila.

Another gunfight took place on Bouara border.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of BGB conducted a drive in the area. Sensing the presence of the BGB men, the criminals opened fire on them which forced the border guards to fire back in self-defense. Two ‘drug traders’ were caught in the line of fire and sustained bullet wound. Later, they were taken to Cumilla Medical College Hospital.

The injured are Bakul Mia, 43, of Narayanganj and Abdul Karim, 37, of Kurigram district.

BGB members recovered 375 Yaba tablets from the spot.
